What's Going On at GEFCO This Month
International Sales News:
In July, International Sales received their second rig order for the country of Libya for two (2) model SD-300-HD drills. The first order, earlier this year was for one (1) model SS-22 drill. Just this week, they also received an order for one (1) model SS-15III drill for the country of Qatar.
Other current and on-going international projects include the countries of;
Libya, Qatar, Egypt, Niger, Australia, China, Turkey, Argentina, Iraq, Uruguay and Venezuela and Algeria.
In June Mr. Art Kliewer, VP International Sales, attended a trade show in Budapest. He also paid a visit to our long time representative for the country of Turkey, Mapek Machine and Industry Corporation in Ankara, for discussions with potential customers regarding our model's SS-185K and SS-1100 drilling rigs.
During the month of August we will have visitors at our facility from China, Australia and Niger.
On a personal note: Marty McDowell, International Sales Manager, is recovering from a motorcycle accident he had last week. He has a few scuffs and some sore ribs but he is doing better now; it could have really been serious! Oh... his bike is expected to make a full recovery as well.
Domestic Sales News:
Domestic Sales had a booth at the trade show in Myrtle Beach last week; the show was a great success! If you missed the show in Myrtle Beach you can catch us at the next 2 upcoming shows in October...more details to follow soon.
Service Department News:
TJ Stalker just returned from a service call in Beijing, China. In the near future he will return to Beijing to do start-up and commissioning for China Tech's new model 185K drilling rig.
The service department is also preparing to go to Egypt for start-up and commissioning on a model SS-40-T recently delivered and they will be making a service call to Algeria in the very near future as well.
Service Tip of the Month - Rigging Up
Leveling the drill rig is the first and most important procedure when setting up over a well. Safety and proficiency is very important. Always inspect hydraulic controls and ground clearance before you start.
As the raising and leveling takes place, first it is ideal to begin lowering the two (2) rear out riggers down until they just take the weight off the rear axles. Second, extend the two (2) front axles clear to stabilizers and feel free to over extend the front of the rig but no more than 10" higher than the rear; then raise the rear of the rig until it is as close to level as possible. You can repeat these steps until the required rig height is met.
Always be sure to have a 2 ft. level with you to double check your work; once you have double checked for proper level you can be confident to raise the mast.
